What designers created are products that people wish to have and willing to use, not cold tools. However, some products are basically machines. In these cases, confrontations between form and function happen. Form follows function. Since the product is mainly composed by machine, it’s unlikely to massively change the form or shape. On contrary, mechanism has to be transformed or reorganized to meet the desire of form.

When it comes to designing the appearance, keeping the original intention in mind is important. To comply with the style and relation of the product, it’s likely for designers to get trapped in personal ideas. Following a certain pattern narrows down creativity. The design will be stiff, unnatural or peculiar since the “style” is planned too deliberately. Symbols have to be embedded subtly into products with fixed structure, using lines, curves and angles to imply the imagery. In the process, ODIIST will gather all ideas and suggestions to discuss, and correct the direction whenever necessary.

Products with too many demands, mechanism with unalterable structure and manufacture techniques with are challenges for designers. To eliminate these problems and to give as much space as possible for appearance, designers know not only how to deal with mechanism but also assortment of method and technique of producing process.

Design is a continuous and interactive process that all difficulties and factors have to be taken into consideration during the whole process, which also extends to production. ODIIST collects, sorts and combines imaginations and methods of production through brain-storming and coordination of designers to put forth the best solution for our clients.
